Fashion Academy - Summer 

The academy is a one-week program, contact department for dates, that introduces high school students to key areas in fashion design and merchandising. The Summer Fashion Academy will allow creative, motivated teens to explore their passion for fashion in a pre-college, summer residence program. Our mission is to inspire creative and resourceful fashion leaders.

The Summer Fashion Academy is for students who:

• Have completed their sophomore year of high school
• Are 16 to 18 years of age
• Are passionate about fashion
• Are interested in exploring careers in the $4 billion fashion industry

The Summer Fashion Academy is a one-week program that offers a carefully curated series of lessons and activities that approach fashion from multiple angles, examining both the design and business aspects. The program is every bit as fun as it is enriching. During the course of the week, students will work individually and in teams to complete a variety of creative projects.

Jump StArt is a summer workshop experience designed for high school artists looking to immerse themselves in challenging and exciting studio sessions at a college level. Work in small class sizes on innovative and original projects which will help you to develop your portfolio and give you a chance to engage in art media not available in most high school learning environments. Instructors are professional artists-faculty who teach college coursework and run professional studios.

This two-week program (July 14th-25th) offers 6 hours of instruction and studio time per day, giving you the opportunity for hands-on learning and creative development. In addition to studio time, you will have social interaction with other students, visit artist studios, the 91��ý���� Museum, and School of Art Collections. You’ll receive feedback from KSU faculty on your work and participate in a workshop to photograph and document your art pieces produced during the program.

Whether you are new to art, or an emerging young artist interested in fleshing out a portfolio, SOA Jumpstart has an experience that’s just right for you. We welcome students in grades 10-12 to explore new avenues of artistic development and to learn from award-winning faculty artists while immersing themselves in a creative college-level studio art experience.

Please note: Students are required to participate every day of the two-week program. Registration is not complete until the registration fee has been paid.

ART ENRICHMENT FOR YOUTH  grades K - 8

Classes offered Fall and Spring 

For eight weeks in our Art Enrichment classes, children grades  K - 8 will become art investigators to uncover their relationships with places, spaces, and objects.

By combining art studio activities with discussions of art as it relates to different time periods and cultures, students come to understand the world of art better. Students are organized by cross-age groupings and work with a variety of media to develop their individual artistic skills. Art Enrichment is a student-teacher education program at 91��ý����.

Example activities include drawing, painting (acrylic, tempera, watercolor), printmaking, clay, and 3D sculptural materials.

PORTHOUSE COLLEGE ACADEMY 

Porthouse Theatre, 91��ý����’s summer professional theatre located on the grounds of Blossom Music Center, will host its annual Porthouse Theatre College Academy during the summer of 2025.

The Academy is ideal for performance students looking to jump start their college career and further develop their musical theatre skills. Students who enroll elect to receive 3 or 6 credit hours toward their BA Theatre Studies or BFA Musical Theatre degree.

91��ý���� Intercollegiate Athletics Sports Camps provide opportunities for athletes of all ages to develop their skills in a fun, sportsmanlike environment. In addition to fundamental instruction, campers will be exposed to sport specific strategies and will have the chance to meet new people. Our goal as a Department is to offer sports camps that challenge athletes and promote individual improvement that will eventually lead to athletic success.

Programming for High School Students (grades 9-12)
New Offering:  Mon June 23 – Thurs June 26, 2025 1:00p.m. - 4:00p.m.

Students will be taught beginning and intermediate programming skills using Python programming language.

The course centers around practical programming tasks.  No prior programming experience is necessary.  All equipment and software will be provided.

Summer STEM & Innovation Camps  

Robotics, coding, and more! Join us for summer STEAM camps in 91��ý����’s AT&T Classroom. Camps change weekly with opportunities for children to engage in a variety of digital experiences including 3D modeling, robotics, animation, coding/programming & game design. Spring discounted registration rates available. Registration opens online March 24.

Full STEAM Ahead with LEGO® SPIKE™ Essential (June Option)

LEGO® SPIKE™ Essential is LEGO’s learning platform for amplifying children’s understanding of concepts for science, technology, arts/literacy, and math (STEAM). Campers will engage in hands-on investigation of STEAM concepts as they build with LEGO® elements and program with the intuitive SPIKE™ App. Note: Due to high demand, this camp is also offered July 21-24, 9-11:30 AM.

Suggested grades: 3+  (Appropriate for grades 3 through 8)

Schedule: June 9-12  MTWTH 9:00 AM - 11:30 AM

Digital Game Design

Campers will build from their excitement for video games and learn to design and program their own playable digital games using Construct 3. Construct 3 is a 2D game engine that can be used to design and create your games, such as puzzles, platformers, role-playing games (RPGs), shooters, racing games, or even storybooks.

Suggested grades: 5+ (Appropriate for grades 5 through 8)

Schedule: June 16-18  MTW 9:00 AM - Noon   Meets 3 days

3D Digital Design for Augmented Reality and Printing

Campers will use 3DSlash and Maker Empire to design 3D projects for printing and use CoSpaces and Merge Cubes to create augmented reality projects. Each camper will also print out one of their projects to take home.

Exploring Robotics

Campers will explore coding and computational thinking through hands-on experiences with a variety of programmable robots including mBots, Ozobot Evos, Edisons, and Sphero SPRK+.

Upward Bound Summer Institute

Upward Bound is a federal TRIO program funded by the U. S. Department of Education.

Pre-College/TRIO Upward Bound programs include three federal TRIO Upward Bound programs that seek to increase educational opportunities and diminish barriers for first-generation, low income students and families through comprehensive services in targeted school districts.

There are three Upward Bound programs at 91��ý����: Classic, Math Science, and Health Professions. TRIO programs help students overcome, class, social, academic and cultural barriers to higher education.

Peak Summer Camp

We are excited to offer our PEAK Summer Camps for 2025!

The PEAK Summer Camp is designed for children 6 - 12 years of age and is an American Camp Association Accredited Camp. Each session is facilitated by highly motivated and energetic students and professionals.

Campers can expect a wide variety of activities, crafts, and games based around weekly themes, that will keep them engaged and active with campers in their age group. Utilizing several of the facilities that are operated by RecWell, we strive to offer something that every camper can enjoy.

This summer, PEAK will be offering 8 weekly sessions beginning in June, and ending in August, with no camp during the week of July 4th.

We will utilize many Recreation and Wellness Services (RecWell) facilities during PEAK, to provide a wide variety of activities and programming, but we will mainly use the Warren Student Recreation and Wellness Center (SRWC) as the “home base” for PEAK.

Sports Camps (All Ages)

 provide opportunities for athletes of all ages to develop their skills in a fun, sportsmanlike environment. In addition to fundamental instruction, campers will be exposed to sport-specific strategies and will have the chance to meet new people. Sports include baseball, cheerleading, field hockey, football, golf, gymnastics, lacrosse, baseball, soccer, softball, track, volleyball, wrestling, and more.
