The first phase of the Summit Street: Building a Better Way Improvement Project is almost complete. Work began nearly a year ago on the stretch of Summit Street from Fraternity Circle to just past Loop Road, and that section of the road is expected to be finished by mid-November.

The air will become a little clearer on 91´«Ã½ÔÚÏß campuses come July 1, 2017. That is when 91´«Ã½ÔÚÏß will become a smoke-free, tobacco-free university. At its meeting in May, the 91´«Ã½ÔÚÏß Board of Trustees approved university policy 3345-5-21, which aligns with the university-level initiative to create a healthy campus environment for all employees, students and visitors.

The 91´«Ã½ÔÚÏß Police Services hosted its first-ever Coffee With a Cop event in the Nest in the Kent Student Center on Sept. 14. Students who attended the event had the opportunity to interact with 91´«Ã½ÔÚÏß police officers in a casual setting and receive free coffee, and the first 200 students who attended also received a free travel mug.
91´«Ã½ÔÚÏß’s Parking and Transit Services is piloting a parking app this fall for commuter lots. When the app is fully operational, it will allow users to determine if a parking lot is full or has vacant spaces. As part of the pilot program, the commuter lot behind Verder Hall will be the first to use the technology.

Autism Connections Kent has been created by students with autism spectrum disorder and their allies with the focus that autism spectrum disorder is a diversity issue and not a disability.

The 91´«Ã½ÔÚÏß Aeronautics Fair is a free-entrance festival held at Andrew W. Paton Field at the 91´«Ã½ÔÚÏß Airport. The 2016 fair took place on Sept. 10.
